Our Buggy

Williams's common nicknames are buggy, bugaboo, and duder scooters. And any variation of the three combined. I have to record these because I think he will get a laugh at them one day. Buggy is a combination of bug and buddy. Bugaboo combines bug and boo. Duder scooters stuck when we saw him learn how to scoot. "Dude! You are scooting!" We use these nicknames on a daily basis. I just love him so much. I have been terrible about keeping a journal and so I'm writing some stories tonight to catch-up.

Being goofy!

William will be one year old in two and a half weeks! He can say hi, no, momma, dada, and he also seems to speak a language of his own. It sounds like an alien collided with a German or something. Often times he just rambles and rambles with a furrowed brow. I always wonder what he is saying. Sometimes I will mimic the sounds and a huge smile will travel across his face and he will laugh. It is so adorable. He also waves his hand goodbye when we or people leave. Or when he is bored or ready to go he will wave signaling he wants to go bye.

He loves the outdoors. He could stay out there all day and everyday. Whenever we bring him back inside he throws a huge tantrum. He also loves to drink out of a sippy cup and when he is done drinking he will use it as a game and spit out the liquid on the floor so he can swirl his fingers in it. We went to a ward BBQ and spiked his sippy with koolaid and forgot. Just minutes later his shirt had bright red stains all down it. that was three days ago and we are still working on the stains. So beware when he has a sippy cup. He also likes to be big and drink out of a regular cup. He will pick up any cup in site and drink out of it whether it has liquid or not.

William loves his independence. He only likes to be held when he wants a bottle, in pain, or extremely tired. And none of them last long, so we take advantage when we can. Otherwise he will jerk, push,  and throwback his body to get out of our arms and explore. He is very smart and has figured out drawers and cabinets. He will pull out anything and everything. I don't even try to clean until the end of the day because its pointless.. He just gets it out again.

He is a climber. He climbs up everything. He climbed his first set of stairs just shy of ten months! He likes to climb on top of everything. Today we were at my moms and there was an aircraft carrier toy on the fireplace step. He climbed on the fireplace and then on top of the aircraft carrier. He started waving to my mom and she was laughing. I looked behind me to see him unsteadily kind of rocking and I about had a heart attack. He also likes to climb on the banana chair and ride it all the way down till it smacks the floor. Crazy kid.

He loves balls. He can kick a soccer ball and it is hilarious! He also loves any new and random object like a whisk or potato masher. The other day I think he mashed every part of the house including the dog.

He is a nightmare when it comes to changing diapers. Distraction is key if you don't want a runaway naked baby. He loves to be without clothes. Sometimes I will let him run around in a diaper and he will pat his big belly like Tarzan. It is so funny! He also loves his baths and playing in the water. We took him to the fountains at Gateway mall and he just ran around until he was soaked and chilled to the bone. He was so cute! He wouldn't even get upset when he was sprayed in the face. I got to dance with him and Sean in the fountain on my birthday. It was one of the happiest moments in my life.

He has really chubby feet. In fact, out of a whole box of hand-me-down shoes, only two pair have fit. We have had to buy some that work for his cute fat feet. He is also our chub. He weighs about 24 pounds! Crazy! He has a cute chin dimple and rosy cheeks. So many people have admired him on Facebook. And my family and friends can't get enough of him...well, when he is happy (which is most of the time). I brought his blessing invitation to work with his newborn pic on it and placed it on the fridge. I saw announcements come and go but his stayed there. One day I noticed all of them were gone and the fridge was clean. I was sad because it was a piece of home at work. I went to get a drink and opened the cupboard door to find his lone picture invite taped on the inside of the cabinet. I laughed. Apparently a huge pharmaceutical company was touring the facility and everything had to go. But my coworker couldn't bear to part with his cuteness. It is still there today.

I've had to bring him to work with me on several occasions and he is a monster and won't hold still while all the other toddlers just sit in their parent's laps. It is embarrassing but hey, it's nice to have entertainment when the meeting gets dull. Many friends have told me they would keep him in a heartbeat... That normally they are not immediately so in love with babies like they are with him. He is definitely our little keeper. And I'm glad I get to keep him forever.

He also loves trying any food and for the most part will eat anything. That can be a bad thing when you find him chomping on toilet paper.

He took his first steps at 8 and a half months and was zooming around the house at nine months, and he never stops! His doctor says it is rare for her to see babies walk that early.

He screamed the first couple months of his life and when I asked the doctor about it, she said, "sometimes babies are just bored out of their mind...and as soon as they learn to use their hands and sit up, it's like their lives change and they become the happiest babies." She predicted that for William and she was right. He is the happiest little dude. Always smiling and talking and laughing.

William has a big personality and is full of love and excitement. He loves to play Patty Cake. As soon as I say, "are you ready?" he starts clapping his hands because he knows what is coming next. When we "roll it and a roll it" he will just sway his upper body from side to side with his arms parallel to his chest. It is so stinking cute!

I just love my little man. Oh, that's another nickname. :D
